Narcissistic Abuse

Do narcissistic people know they hurt their loved ones? Yes, narcissistic abusers are often aware that they are hurting their victims. However, their sense of empathy is often limited, and they may not fully understand or care about the impact of their actions on others. Narcissists tend to have an inflated sense of self-importance and entitlement, and they may feel justified in their behavior because they believe that they are superior to others. Narcissistic abusers may also use tactics such as gaslighting or blame-shifting to make their victims doubt their own perceptions and feelings, which can make it difficult for victims to recognize the abuse and hold the abuser accountable. It's important for victims of narcissistic abuse to seek support and help from trained professionals or support groups who can provide them with resources and strategies for coping with the effects of the abuse and breaking free from the cycle of abuse.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder: communal

Communal narcissism is a subtype of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) characterized by an excessive preoccupation with a group or community that the individual belongs to, and a belief that this group is superior to others. People with communal narcissism often have an inflated sense of entitlement, demand special treatment, and seek admiration and attention from others in the group. Unlike other types of narcissists who tend to focus on their own individual needs and desires, communal narcissists define their self-worth based on their affiliation with the group. They may engage in behaviors that benefit the group, but only if it also brings them personal recognition and admiration. They may also become defensive or hostile when their status within the group is challenged or threatened. Overall, communal narcissism can be destructive to group dynamics and can lead to conflict and division within the group.
